Dorothy L. Wood, President & CEO
Dorothy founded the company in 1978 specializing in tenant improvement work. A native of Alexandria, Virginia, and graduate of Madison College (now called JMU), she has lived in Virginia Beach since 1965. She is extremely active in the community, having recently received the 2000 First Citizen of Virginia Beach Award. She also has received awards from the Virginia Beach Bar Association and the United States Small Business Administration. She was appointed by City Council to the Virginia Beach Planning Commission, and serves on a number of community boards, including the Virginia Beach Foundation, the Virginia Beach Forum, and the Central Business District Association. She served as the first female president of the Virginia Beach Rotary Club and co-founded Meals On Wheels of Virginia Beach over 25 years ago and serves on its board today.
An avid gardener and world traveler, her attention to detail and strict customer service requirements continue to guide J D & W, Inc. as we face new challenges and opportunities in the marketplace.

A lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, Jim is a 1985 graduate of Washington & Lee University. He joined J D & W, Inc. in late 1988, and has worked to increase its diversity and volume. He has successfully completed a number of professional development courses including BOCA Basic Building Codes, OSHA courses, and AutoCAD training.
Very active in the community, Jim was appointed by City Council to the Transportation Safety Commission and the Health Services Advisory Board. He is past president of the Rotary Club of Cape Henry where he was named "Rotarian of the Year" in 1998, past president of the Tidewater Chapter of the Washington & Lee Alumni Association and serves on the board of the Virginia Beach Education Foundation. In 1999, he traveled as a member of the City of Virginia Beach delegation to the Japan National Volunteer Summit in Miyazaki, Japan. Inside Business magazine named him one of the "Top Forty Under Forty" in 1999 and he received the Hampton Roads Volunteer Achievement Award in 2001.

W. Christopher Wood, Secretary / Treasurer
A native of Virginia Beach, Chris is a 1989 graduate of Washington & Lee University and received his MBA from the College of William and Mary in 1996. He joined J D & W, Inc. in 1991, and has supervised all marketing efforts. His work has directly increased annual project volume and has created a more diversified base of construction projects.
Formerly a commercial loan officer with a national bank, Chris serves the community in a number of areas. He is on several boards including Volunteer Hampton Roads and Leadership Hampton Roads Alumni and is an active volunteer with the Virginia Beach SPCA, the Virginia Marine Science Museum and the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia. In 2000, he was named one of the "Top Forty Under Forty" by Inside Business magazine.
